Bio: Sasha Nemeckova is a Czech therapist who has recently returned to Prague following more than twenty years of living abroad. Her own lived experience of migration is what first led her to seeking to understand the psychological impact of migration in her theatre work, therapy practice and research. Sasha comes from a background in theatre and applied arts, where she worked internationally with a wide variety of groups, including children and adults with profound learning disabilities, women experiencing situations of domestic violence, earthquake survivors, university students and young people at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. Sasha has been practising for 8 years as a dramatherapist and integrative psychotherapist, having completed her Masters Degree at Anglia Ruskin University in the UK. She worked in schools, in the National Health Service, within the not-for-profit sector and in private practice. Having worked extensively with migrant populations and trauma survivors, Sasha has extensive training in trauma-informed work (CBT for PTSD, Embodied Reprocessing, Compassionate Complex PTSD recovery etc.) and continues to further her knowledge on supporting her clients in a holistic and embodied manner. Sasha works with children, adolescents and adults and believes in working imaginatively and collaboratively, tailoring each intervention to an individual client’s needs. Sasha’s theoretical background is rooted in psychodynamic, psychosocial and cognitive-behavioural approaches in therapy.
